Last Thursday we threw open the doors to the press and our esteemed guests for Press Night for King Lear.
And oh, what an evening it was! From performance to party. Thank you so much to our friends at ATG Productions, Chichester Festival Theatre, and Gavin Kalin Productions for such a wonderful evening – and in such lovely company. And thank you also to our partners and investors who were able to join us and celebrate, and to the whole cast and crew of this breathtaking production.
To top it all off, we woke up the next morning to some spectacular reviews!
★★★★ – The Times
‘This production still dazzles, McKellen shimmering brightest at its dark, tormented heart’
★★★★- The Guardian
‘Dazzling’, ‘cuts straight to the heart’
★★★★ – What’s On Stage
‘McKellen is spellbinding from the very start’
★★★★- The Telegraph
★★★★- The Evening Standard
‘McKellen is hypnotic’
‘A chance to see a real master at work’
★★★★★- City AM
‘Hits the mark on all counts’
★★★★★ – London Theatre
In addition to our reviews, the press also attended our wonderful after party, which resulted in a write-up or two:
What’s On Stage featured an article including some photos from the evening, with a focus on Sir Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart’s reunion. The Evening Standard, on the other hand, revealed some of McKellen’s tricks to making it through the performances at the ripe old age of 79.
And finally, here’s a small selection of photos from our guests with some of the cast and crew at the after party!
