Last week, the GHF Team had the pleasure of taking the Spirit Tour at the Natural History Museum.
We had such an incredible time being taken behind the scenes. Not only did we get to hear all about the work that the Museum and the researchers who work there do, but we also got to see some of the specimens from their huge collection. We saw everything from specimens collected by Darwin himself on his voyage on the HMS Beagle, to giant squids, to the only barracuda ever caught off the British coast. We also got to feel the weight of an actual shark jaw. It was fascinating to broaden our knowledge of flora and fauna, but also to learn of the benefits that studying these specimens has for teaching us about the world we inhabit.
We would definitely recommend that anyone with a thirst for knowledge books themselves a place on this tour. Tickets can be found here!
This is, of course, all in preparation for our upcoming production, The Wider Earth, all about the young Darwin and his adventures on the Beagle. For more information and tickets, visit our website.
A huge thank you to the team at the Natural History Museum for taking such good care of us on our visit!
